MERRY CHRISTMAS! 2013
Christmas is a very special time. A time for giving. A time for remembering the Holy Spirit, or getting into “the Christmas spirit”. Exchanging gifts, shopping, Christmas lights, Santa Claus, and all the Holiday magic that this time of year brings to mind.
Many Say “Jesus is the reason for the season” and this being Spiritualdiscussions.com you’d have to expect that I would write from this point of view. I hope I won’t disappoint you!
Christmas symbolizes the time of Christ. The gift he gives is so unlike the gifts we unwrap under the tree! Christ gives us the gift of truth about who we REALLY are! The gift of God’s love and the creative power he shares with us. The gift of Love that creates all things!
Have you noticed the Christmas spirit brings about a change in people? We try harder to be nice to each other. To give charity and help those in need more than any other time of the year. What would happen to our world if we increased our effort in this and extended it throughout our lifetime? What if we could could extinguish the thought of getting and sacrifice and replace those thoughts with that of extending equality and love? To see each other not as bodies or personalities but as a unified part of the infinite creation and extension of God’s love?
It’s a beautiful thought and nice to imagine isn’t it? Peace on earth and goodwill toward man is on the lips of many of us during the Christmas season. But how many of us really make an effort to make that a reality? How many of us wish for it, but believe it would be impossible because there is just too much “evil” in the world to ever make it a reality? We get too wrapped up in what others need to do, or should do, to take a good hard look at ourselves to admit “I am the problem” rather than taking ownership of the Christmas gift like Jesus did and say “I am the light of the world!”.
If we were to say “I am the light of the world” out loud to anyone they would “crucify” us with judgment and accuse us of blasphemy! Sound familiar? Wasn’t that EXACTLY what happened to Jesus? Sure was! Which is exactly the same reason WE are afraid to claim our birthright of the light and love within ourselves as God created us to be! We would much rather live in fear and lies than face the TRUTH that is just beneath all the fear and lies that cover it up!
Our concepts and beliefs about God have cast a long dark shadow of an illusion we have convincingly made “real”! We think we can die because we believe we are bodies. That belief alone gives birth to many other fears and illusory thoughts of trying to protect and defend the body we believe we are.
A COURSE IN MIRACLES page 327 (chapter 15-XI ) is entitled “CHRISTMAS AS THE END OF SACRIFICE” It talks about Christmas being the symbol of a star in the darkness that we need to see within ourselves! We need to accept that the time of Christ has come and that he asks us to give up nothing! He wants no sacrifice! Paragraph 3 says “This Christmas give the Holy Spirit everything that would hurt you. Let yourself be healed completely that you may join with him in healing, and let us celebrate our release together by releasing everyone with us. Leave nothing behind, for release is total, and when you have accepted it with me you will give it with me. All pain and sacrifice and littleness will disappear in our relationship, which is innocent as our relationship to our Father, and as powerful. Pain will be brought to us and disappear in our presence, and without pain there can be no sacrifice. And without sacrifice there love must be.”
What is it that “hurts us”? Anything that is not Peace! Guilt, fear, and conflict of any kind. Further in the chapter Jesus asks: “Who can perceive part himself as loathsome, and live within himself in peace? And who can try to resolve the “conflict” of heaven and hell in him by casting Heaven out and giving it the attributes of hell, without experiencing himself as incomplete and lonely?” WOW! Merry Christmas indeed! The gift that God and the Holy Spirit want us to receive is a corrected perception of who we are in TRUTH!
Following Jesus then, must mean identifying ourselves as a Prince of Peace with him! It is peace he would teach and have us teach and share with each other! What sacrifice is needed to extend love and peace to our fellow man? And what a gift we could give GOD and his creations if we could only recognize ourselves as Jesus recognized Himself! This is why Jesus was born! To reestablish that God’s love and communication is and has ever been unbroken regardless of the condition or destruction of the body. Which he taught us on the Cross by his resurrection from the body to eternal life! Eternal!!! No beginning, no end! “Before Abraham was; I am!”
“Let no despair darken the joy of Christmas, for the time of Christ is meaningless apart from joy. Let us join in celebrating peace by demanding no sacrifice of anyone, for so you offer me the love I offer you. What can be more joyous than to perceive we are deprived of nothing? Such is the message of the time of Christ, which I give you that you may return it to the Father, Who gave it to me. For in the time of Christ communication is restored, and he joins us in the celebration of his Son’s creation.”
So this Christmas I would do my best to fulfill Christ’s request by saying to you:
“I give you to the Holy Spirit as part of myself.
I know that you will be released unless I want to use you to imprison myself.
In the name of my freedom I choose your release, because I recognize that we will be released together.”
In other words, I would forgive you your mistakes and “sins” by not seeing them. Instead I give those gifts to the Holy Spirit to be corrected for both of us. so that we can see each other in PEACE as we were created by God. Unless I am willing to do this I have placed myself in a prison of my own making. My own private and separate hell. Because I would see you as not part of and within God’s creation of love, I have separated MYSELF from all God created and deprived myself of the Joy of Peace and Love.
May the tears you cry this coming year be tears of release that make room for joy!
