What is truth? How do we really know what truth is? Opinions range wildly about what is true and what isn’t! This religion says that; that religion says this, and even amongst the same religion we have divisions about what truth is!
Did you know there are over 3000 different branches of the christian church alone? Why is that? The answer is simple really! They simply can’t agree on what is true!(see laws of chaos) I find it sadly humorous to watch people argue over what Jesus said or what God is. Which is why I started this blog in the first place. People are desperately seeking truth and yet are unwilling to give up their opinions and beliefs to allow it to show up!
A COURSE IN MIRACLES has a whole chapter dedicated to our willingness or resistance to allow truth! In fact chapter 17 section IV talks about it specifically! For those that have never read A COURSE IN MIRACLES the section is even NAMED “The Little Willingness”!
Think about the Lords prayer. “Thy Kingdom come THY will be done!” But in truth we only say those words but unconsciously we say “My Kingdom come MY will be done!” and then fight over our piece of the pie! When we don’t get it, we resort to all kinds of nasty behavior! From throwing a fit to murder and all things in between!
This is why we are asked to be in the world but not of it! There is a lot to be said about this simple statement and many lessons we all need to learn about it. But the question Jesus asks remains. Are you willing? Do you think perhaps this is what he was saying in Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me … “ To “open the door” you have to be willing! How little God asks of us for such a huge return!
Does that mean all we have to do is get on our knees and ask Jesus to come into our heart to “saved”? Well that’s a good start! It shows a willingness to change but it doesn’t stop there! We have to be willing in every moment to allow the Holy Spirit (or whatever you want to call that) to come thru and get out of the way! But how do we do that? I’d like to share with you a non profit organization I ran across recently that can help. www.PauseForInspiration.org They have free books, cards and audio Cd’s to guide you. But to give you a quick idea; have you ever felt inspired? Or like time just stopped while you were doing something and it only felt like an hour went by only to find it was five or six!? That is when you know you are living in truth or when truth comes through you. Those “Ah Ha” moments of realization are a step toward Truth.
A litmus test for Truth is Peace Joy and Love. So if you or I are in conflict or feel anything other than those three things, TRUTH is not present. Pretty simple and yet no where near easy! Such is the Paradox of a spiritual life! Where the weak are strong and a tiny mustard seed moves mountains! The bible and many other sacred texts point to these paradoxical truths and teachings. “Let those who have an ear hear” speaks to gaining understanding.
Even being human is a paradox! Any infinite being who gets thrust into a finite world would confuse anyone! So we often make things up to understand the world around us and call it “truth”.
The words “Seek and you shall find” are extremely important here! To find TRUTH leave no stone unturned! There are 28 Bible Verses about No Stone Left Unturned. Each pointing to the way of Truth. Each convicting the world and it’s evil ways.
Surly those verses can’t be talking about YOU or I! “ I’m not like that! “ are the most arrogant words we ever say!! I am like that! And I need to see that I am, and take steps to change that behavior before I blame or fault anyone else of it. “But I don’t drink or have any addictions” we might say. But are we judging those who do as unworthy of God’s love? Damning them and ourselves to hell?
Separating the wheat from the chaff is an “infinite” process and the reason forgiveness is so important. It is a release to truth in us and an act of love. A redeeming of the peace, Love and Joy that God would give by his amazing grace. No one will be left out! All deserve love because all is love, and love is all. God is Love and loves all things with a purity that surpasses all understanding.
Can I Love like that? Can you? Only by seeing the ways in which we are not Loving, can we see the holes in our holiness! Separating the wheat from the chaff in ourselves is the purpose for living! To Know Thyself truly by separating out what does not serve to bring about Peace Love and Joy in ourselves and others.
Studying the scriptures is one thing. Putting them into action is quite another!
Practice is required! Just like anything in life, to be good at it, you have to practice it. See what works and what doesn’t and adjust accordingly. Leaving no stone unturned and seeking truth in all things. Good or bad! What truth am I not seeing here, is a mantra that will serve you well. Often a friend is needed to point out what we don’t see! Or to be shown what they don’t see. But Blaming, shaming and attack, are not peaceful, loving or joyful. So we need to be aware and careful in helping each other! To ask the right questions that will bring this Truth to all!
